Sick, Sober and Shooting

Saturday, September 24th, 2005
So my litte quirky rash is still hanging around, even after taking those prescription pills which cost me about 70 Malaysian Ringgit. But it's only been 5 days since taking them, so I'll give them a couple more days to kick in. I'm also happy to announce that I've been fully sober for over two weeks now! Hammering myself at least twice a week before this might have triggered my multiple health problems currently, so now I'm as clean as an Alcoholics Anonymous success story. Every Wednesday night, Curtin students nearby would go down to Waterford, the neighbourhood tavern, to drink themselves sick and sing very bad karaoke on stage until midnight.… Read More

Birthday twists

Friday, September 16th, 2005
On the night before my big 2-1, I gave my Mom a call and we had a good chat which I haven't done so in a long time. It felt good, because I never really did have a decent conversation with her, even when I was back home in Malaysia. I was always too busy or whatnot with my own little world. We talked and updated each other on our lives until midnight struck, on which she proceeded to sing me Happy Birthday over the phone. It was only then that homesickness started pinching at me. After the call, I slowly walked across the room and picked up a small birthday gift that my parents gave to me the night before I flew to Australia. I opened it, and… Read More

Pre-Birthday Romps

Monday, September 12th, 2005
Today, I got up for class at 12pm, was late, went to the printing room, waited for ages to print something for class, walked to the said class in the rain, and arrived in class at 12:15pm, only to see it end at 12:30pm. My printed stuff was not checked. Hooray!, that meant that I could go into the city earlier; nevermind that I wasted my whole entire morning for a 15-minute class. Stories of my lone stroll into the city will be told after this little update:

It's been raining here. Alot. I'm not feeling very well. Ack.
Rust - Chris and Kim
On the set of 'Rust'
I helped out in a senior students' film production shoot a couple of days ago in a posh bar up at Beaufort Street in Subiaco. It's part of an assignment for my FTV223: Drama Workshop module to be a Production Assistant for a day or two. The crew I was with were quite flexible in handing out jobs to the few FTV223 students who showed up, so I volunteered to be their still photographer. It was fun. I had free pizza. Anyway, that story had nothing… Read More

Happenings

Time, time, time. Where has it gone? It's been well over a month since I flew my ass to the Land Down Under. A lot of things have happened since my arrival here, and I have yet the time to really sit down and indulge in a little reminiscing. And since I have been endowed with photographic/videographic memory, I have a lot of recollection to do. Hence, I spent a good hour or so this evening standing outside my unit's balcony alone, listening to the local flock of wild parrots screeching about, enjoying the chilly weather, thinking. Studies have been going quite well at Curtin, and I find myself enjoying all but one module, which is Creative… Read More
